Introduction

GPS Track Log (“the app”) respects your privacy. This page explains what information the app uses on your iPhone, where it is stored, and when it may leave the device. The app does not require an account or sign-in.

Information the app uses

The app accesses data on your device only as needed for its features.

Location: Apple Location Services are used to show your position on the map and to record tracks. While a recording is in progress, location updates may continue in the background if you have granted Always access. Location is used for distance, speed, and related statistics, and—if you turn the option on—to detect when you have returned to a home area and automatically end recording.
Home location: If you set a home point for automatic end, that coordinate is stored only on your device.
Motion and fitness: Step count, device heading, and related motion data may be used to estimate a path when GPS is weak or unavailable, to show session step count, and to help align estimates when GPS returns. This data is processed on your device.
Photo library: Only photos you choose can be attached to waypoints. Copies are stored in the app’s documents folder on your device. They are not uploaded to a server operated by the developer.
Settings: Preferences such as recording mode, filters, map style, appearance, speed units, language, lock-screen pause controls, and home-goal options are stored on your device.

Where data is stored

Tracks, waypoints, attached photos, and settings stay on your device. The developer does not operate a server that automatically receives your tracks or photos. While you record, status may appear on the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island. That display uses on-device storage and is not sent to the developer’s servers.

Sharing and export

You can export tracks as GPX, KML, or a full backup that can include waypoint photos. Files leave your device only when you choose to save or send them (for example with the share sheet, Files, AirDrop, or Mail). The developer does not receive those files unless you send them yourself.

Network use

The app may download a public update-check file to see whether a required update is available. That request does not include your tracks, photos, or an account (the app has no account). Showing ads also uses the network, as described below.

Advertising

A banner from Google AdMob may appear on the Start screen. Google may collect an advertising identifier and device information under Google’s own policies. In some regions a consent message is shown before personalized ads. iOS may also ask for permission to use the advertising identifier (IDFA) through App Tracking Transparency. You can decline and still use the app. Apple SKAdNetwork may be used for ad conversion measurement. When required, an ads privacy setting appears in the app.

Third parties

We do not sell or rent your recorded tracks or photos. Except as required by law, we do not give that data to others unless you share it. Ads are provided by Google. The App Store and related system services are provided by Apple.

Permissions

Location: map display and track recording, including background updates while recording.
Motion and Fitness: path estimates when GPS is unavailable, and step count.
Photo Library: photos you attach to waypoints.
Tracking (optional): used only to help show more relevant ads via the advertising identifier. You can refuse this and still use the app.

Retention and deletion

You can delete tracks in the app; photos attached to a deleted track are also removed. Uninstalling the app removes data stored inside the app. Files you exported or shared remain wherever you saved or sent them.

Children

The app has no account and no social feed. It is not designed to collect personal information from children. The App Store age rating is 4+.
